High Performance Water Pressure Reducing Valve- Series U5
OPTIONS ½" to 2" (15-50mm) - Add suffix:
- B - for built-in thermal expansion bypass feature. Note: For the bypass to be effective, the T&P relief valve pressure setting must be higher than that of the incoming water supply pressure. Latest allowable maximum working pressure for gas and electric water heaters is 150 psi (10 bars).
- G - for gauge tapping.
- GG - for 160 psi (11 bars) gauge and tapping
- HP - for pressure range of 75 - 100 psi (5-7 bars); set for 90 psi (6 bars) no-flow pressure.
- LP - for low pressure range, 10-35 psi (0.7-2.5 bars); set for 30 psi (2 bars) no flow pressure.
- SC - for sealed spring cage for high-rise applications (See below).
OPTIONS ½" to 1" (15-25mm) - Add suffix:
- S - for solder union inlet x NPT female outlet connection.
- Z3 - for sealed spring cage, corrosion-resistant adjusting and cage screws for waterworks pit installations.
SPECIAL MODELS
- No. 5M3-Z6 - with water meter threaded connections and 7 ½" (190mm) lay length for new or existing meter box installations. For 5/8" (16mm), 5/8" x ¾" (16mm x 20mm) or ¾" (20mm) meter setters or resetters.
- No. U5-Z9 - with ¾" (20mm) NPT threaded male union inlet and ¾" (20mm) NPT threaded female outlet connection.

When supply main pressure exceeds 60 psi (4 bars), an approved water pressure reducing valve and strainer shall be installed in the water service pipe near its entrance to the building to reduce the water pressure to 50 psi (3.5 bars) or lower. Sill cocks and outside wall hydrants may be left on full main pressure at the option of the owner.
For service water systems up to and including 2" (50mm), provision shall be made to permit the bypass flow of water around the valve back into the main when pressures, due to thermal expansion on the outlet side of the valve, exceed the pressure in the main. Pressure reducing valves with built-in bypass check valves will be acceptable.
Approved valves shall comply fully with all applicable requirements of ASSE Standard No. 1003 - Water Pressure Reducing Valves for Domestic Water Supply Systems. Watts Regulator Company Series U5B or equal.

Series U5 ½"-1" (15-25mm), U5B ½"-2" (15-50mm) Suitable for initial pressures up to 300 psi (21 bars). Reduced pressure range 25-75 psi (1.72-5.17 bars). Set for 50 psi (3.5 bars) no flow pressure unless otherwise specified. Operating temperatures up to 160°F (71°C).
Series U5LP ½"-1" (15-25mm), U5BLP ½"-2" (15-50mm) Suitable for initial pressures up to 200 psi (14 bars). Reduced pressure range 10-35 psi (.70-2.41 bars). Set for 30 psi (2.0 bars) no flow pressure unless otherwise specified. Operating up to 180°F (82°C).
Series U5HP ½"-1" (15-25mm), U5BHP ½"-2" (15-50mm) Suitable for initial pressures up to 300 psi (21 bars). Reduced pressure range 75-100 psi (5-7 bars). Set for 90 psi (6 bars) no flow pressure unless otherwise specified.
Meets requirements of ASSE Standard 1003, ANSI A112.26.2, CSA Standard B356, Southern Standard Plumbing Code and Listed by IAPMO.
